Ben Malcolmson (b.1999) is a photographer born in Belfast, Northern Ireland and currently based in The Hague, Netherlands. His practice deals with communication of the landscape, looking at the familiar and psychological complexities of the self with performative-based elements as an undertone.

Ben Malcolmson has worked with Belfast Exposed Gallery, participating in the Young Futures programme working as an instructor for the galleries summer scheme as well as an invigilator. Work from Ben's most recent project was featured in Belfast Exposed Future Gallery 'The Collective', as well as Translink's Portrait of Northern Ireland 'Connections'. He has further undertaken gallery invigilator roles in Open Eye Gallery and Sailing School Gallery, Liverpool, UK.

Recently, Ben was awarded to be apart of ‘Making Marks’ by the Arab British Centre, funded by the British Council. ‘Making Marks’, explores the impact of international working on emerging artists. Ben’s recent residency to Kuwait was one stage in the ‘Making Marks’ project, from this, Ben will be working with Belfast Exposed till the end of 2019 for a solo show with the gallery.

Education:

He is currently undertaking his Erasmus studies at The Royal Academy of Art, The Hague in Bachelor's of Photography. His pervious studies include studying his Bachelor's of Photography with Video at Ulster University in Belfast, Northern Ireland.

Ben Malcolmson's accolade has seen him work on set with Vogue Paris, alongside Alasdair McLellan & Adwoa Aboah.
